This English summer cocktail is giving cool-as-a-cucumber vibes
Summer is here, and with the UK baking under a heatwave, we all need one thing—a seriously refreshing drink. Enter the "Summer Obsession", our take on an English summer cocktail. It's a crisp, cooling gin mix designed to make sweltering days feel like a breezy escape.
This cocktail is your ultimate summer essential for four unbeatable reasons. First, it's ultra-refreshing — cucumber and mint create an instant cool-down effect. Second, that bright and zesty lime doesn't just add flavor - it slices through summer heat like a chilled knife. Third, you'll love how effortless it is to make. And best of all, it's completely customizable - want to mix things up? Simply swap in juicy watermelon for a sweeter twist or add elderflower for floral notes. Marianne, Co-founder of Prototype Gin
This isn’t just any G&T remix—it’s a botanical masterpiece built on Prototype Gin, layered with fresh cucumber, zesty lime, and aromatic mint. The result? A drink so refreshing, you’ll forget it’s over 30°C outside. Best of all, it takes less than 2 minutes to make, and every ingredient is easy to find.
50ml Prototype Gin
150ml premium tonic water
2 thick cucumber slices
½ lime, juiced
4-5 fresh mint leaves (clapped to release the aroma)
Ice
Fill a tall glass to the top with ice—the more, the better.
Pour in 50ml of Prototype Gin—this is where the magic starts.
Top up with 150ml tonic water—gently stir to mix.
Add cucumber slices—let them infuse for extra freshness.
Squeeze in lime juice—adjust to taste (we like it tangy).
Clap mint leaves between your palms (to wake up the oils) and drop them in.
Give it one last stir, then sip, sigh, and repeat.
